Which Shirley Version Should You Choose?

  • Napkins, bibs, shirts and small towels: the regular fill font in 2 or 3 inches.
  • Bath towels, totes and pillows: the large fill font in 4 to 6 inches.
  • Blankets, sweatshirts and anything bigger than 6 inches: the applique version, which uses fabric instead of thousands of fill stitches.
  • Caps and structured bags: the 3D puff version.
  • Vinyl decals, tumblers and signs: the SVG or TrueType version.

Tips for Stitching Shirley Monograms

  • Choose the size from the item: about 1.5 to 2 inches for bibs and napkins, 3 to 4 inches for towels and bags, and larger for pillows and blankets.
  • Use the applique version for big monograms. It stitches faster and keeps blankets and sweatshirts soft.
  • Center letter first: place the center letter on your marked center, then line up the side letters.

FAQ

Is Shirley a script font?

No. Shirley is a classic three-letter monogram font with regal, old-world letterforms. It is designed for monograms rather than writing out names in cursive. For names, see our script embroidery font ideas.

Can I type the Shirley monogram in Embrilliance?

Yes. The embroidery versions include BX files, which install as a keyboard font in Embrilliance.

Which initial goes in the middle?

For a traditional monogram, the last-name initial goes in the larger center position, with the first-name initial on the left and the middle initial on the right.
